The Colour (+ Smell) of 2027
Is it just us, or is 2027 already on your mind? Maybe it's the seven planets in retrograde this fall (send help), but these last few months of 2026 are testing us. We're ready for a new year, and the fresh start and totally improved version of us that it promises.
One of our favourite events of every new year: Pantone's Colour of the Year announcement. What? You don't wait with bated breath to have the coming year's philosophy sold to you through colour psychology? Do you also not make critical life decisions based on the musings of Instagram tarot readers? Shocking.
Pantone won't reveal 2027's Colour of the Year until December (cue desperate wail) but the internet is frothing with predictions. We like to think we keep up with what's cool, so we're aware of these anticipated colour trends. We're about to break them down for you, and because we care about your street cred too, we're recommending LARK fragrances that match the vibes (and the hues).
ELECTRIC BLUE
Not baby blue. Not cerulean. Electric blue. Think neon lights, the glow of your laptop screen, and lightning striking. WGSN x Coloro, a consumer trend forecaster, have already announced "Luminous Blue" as the colour of 2027. According to colour psychology, this shade of blue reflects innovation, energy, excitement, and forward-thinking. With advancements in AI, flying Teslas, and greater human-tech interconnection than ever before... maybe the trend forecasters are right about this one?
Now, our area of expertise: The fragrance oils that best capture the energy of electric blue.
- SOFT STATIC — A fresh, buzzy fragrance with notes of ozone, green mandarin, petrichor, and cypress needles.
- WHERE THE TIDES REST — Airy, smooth, and invigorating. Notes of green coconut, mangosteen, sweet sugar, and sea spray.
- THE RARE BLOOM — A twilight floral. Scented with green stems, creamy jasmine, queen of the night, and soft musk.
SAGE GREEN
Something's in the air. Paint companies Behr, Benjamin Moore, and Sherwin Williams have all chosen earthy greens as their signature 2027 colours. Maybe it's the universal desire for calm and stability in this era of political, social, and environmental upheaval. Just a guess. Sage green is associated with grounding, growth, and the stress reduction that comes from connection with Mother Earth.
Our turn. The LARK scents that evoke the feeling of a breath of fresh air.
- COOL SAGE + MINT — Earthy, herbal, and clean. Notes of clary sage, fleeting mint, dry smoke, and soft anise.
- FRIEND OF THE FIG TREE — Smells like the whole tree, not just the fruit. Fig leaf, fig milk, musk, and woods.
- GREEN TEA + LEMONGRASS — As grounding as a cup of hot, green tea drank under a Japanese maple. Scented with lemongrass, green tea leaves, jasmine, and clean woods.
VIVID PINK
Already showing up in 2027 fashion and beauty collections, vibrant pink inspires boldness, playfulness, romance, and femininity (repeat after us: girl power). Who couldn't use a little extra play and joy?
And because not everyone can pull off bright pink lipstick or a vibrant pink sweater, here are some fragrances that will have you smelling pink instead.
- CEREAL — Your favourite childhood breakfast. Notes of lemon, lime, lavender, and corn.
- RHUBARB + SWEET CREAM — Mouthwatering. Rhubarb, kumquat, lily, and cream.
- 50'S FIZZ — A smell you could almost drink (don't though). Think caramel syrup, bubbly cream soda, rich vanilla, and fizzy sugar crystals.
BLOOD ORANGE
Some say orange is divisive. Colour scientists say it communicates warmth, enthusiasm, and confidence. The spring 2027 runways are calling it punchy, sophisticated, and retro. If you feel like wearing orange, we won't judge. We do recommend sniffing orange though.
Some our best blood orange sniffs include...
- PULP FICTION — A LARK original. Ripe persimmon, white peach, tangerine pulp, and orange peel. Is that you John Travolta?
- GRILLED PEACHES + BROWN SUGAR — You can almost taste it (again don't, it's fragrance oil). Notes of peach, nectarine, brown sugar, and vanilla cream.
- SWEET SATSUMA — All sweetness, no bitterness. The smell of juicy satsuma, mandarin zest, soft orange blossom, and sheer woods.
There you have it. Wear, eat, and sniff these colours and you might just survive to 2027. We'll help with the sniffing part.
